WE SOURCE OUR INGREDIENTS FROM ETHICALLY-GROUNDED ORGANIZATIONS WHO PRACTICE SUSTAINABLE FARMING METHODS AND FAIR TRADE. WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU SHOULD BE GOOD FOR THE WORLD, TOO.

All our bars start with the same base:

BAOBAB. 

The fruit of the Baobab tree, when dried into a powder, is one of the most nutritionally-dense foods in the world. For centuries, communities in Africa and Australia have relied on the Baobab fruit to provide essential nutrition during the dry season. More calcium than milk, more antioxidants than Goji berries, and one of the highest concentrations of Vitamin C are just the beginning - this fruit powder also contains significant levels of magnesium, fiber, potassium, and pectin. The pectin is what holds our bars together, and the nutrient boost is what takes the OneBar to the next level. Add in the sustainable sourcing methods that provide a fair wage to the people who harvest this superfood, and we were sold. Baobab is truly what sets our bars apart from the rest.

 

 

PEAR.

Fun fact: a lot of other fruit bars use apples as their base...but we believe that pears are superior. First of all, they're less likely to come from a genetically modified, pesticide-heavy source. They also contain more fiber and potassium than apples, as well as disease-fighting phytonutrients. But what pushed us over the edge in the pear vs. apple debate was a combination of texture and flavor that allowed the other fruit to really shine without being overpowered.

 

CHICORY ROOT.

On the packaging, we call this "inulin fiber," which is a fancy word for the soluble plant fiber found in chicory root. Yes, the same kind of chicory they use in New Orleans for coffee. But this little root is more than just a flavor boost to your caffeine fix; it's actually been used for thousands of years in herbal medicine due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Not to mention that it's loaded with fiber, which we know we should all be eating more of! So why do we need this in our bars? First of all, it helps keep them shelf-stable. It also absorbs water, keeping our bars from being sticky and gooey.
